One of her partners, a self-aggrandizing attorney, after big bucks and LOTS of recognition pulled Bates character aside into a quite office. In a short, poignant moment he asked, “Are you having fun, Harry?” She looked astonished. “Having fun” she replied, “A man’s life is at stake here.” That’s when her fellow attorney asked her, “Don’t you realize that you are at the top of your game with all these people watching your every move knowing everything is on the line. At your age, in ten years you may be looking back and thinking why didn’t I savory that moment, rather than rushing through it without realizing how much fun it is to be great at what you love to do and knowing you have the opportunity of a lifetime to do it?” Harry’s whole countenance changed as she sat quietly and pondered what he had just said to her.

How often do we forget to have fun as players? Isn’t it awesome to be in the game, doing what we love to do, making a difference for people in their lives. Life can be messy, often frustrating and occasionally very difficult, AND yet at the same time we can have incredible fun and in some magical moments life can actually be breathtaking.
