Hit the Ball
Don’t you just love Phil Mickelson’s spirit
and confidence! He loves golf, and he enjoys playing the
game even if he doesn’t win. And he is NEVER afraid
to hit the ball.
In the PGA championship tournament two weeks ago on the
18th hole, Mickelson hit the ball into the rough. ''It was
a shot that I struggled with out of the rough all week,''
he said. ''I tried to remember some of the shots I hit as
a kid in my backyard. I hit it aggressively, and the ball
popped up nicely, and it rolled smoothly.'' This was the
PGA championship with a purse in the millions, and he just
walked up and hit the ball like he did as a kid in the backyard!
Mickelson continued ''I knew that I needed to make birdie,
I thought maybe just to tie,'' he said. ''I walked off the
tee and saw a par on the leaderboard for Bjorn. When I hit
the second shot, I knew I needed a birdie to win, which
was a nice feeling.''
Almost no one was making birdies in that final round of
the PGA, but Mickelson had a “nice feeling”
and expected to make that birdie and win. He has a passion
for playing golf, and he is an extraordinary talented golfer.
Why would he ever have a bad day?
