“Work is not always required
there is such a thing as sacred idleness,
the cultivation of which is now fearfully neglected.
George Macdonald Is there a more beautiful month than September? It is not typically a month for idleness, but a time to get back in the groove. I have a vision of new crayons, a clean pad, a shiny lunch box, and #2 pencils all sharpened and in a row, new shoes, and a brand new beginning. September is about showing up and being responsible, doing homework, and coming straight home from school. Remember? How about one last irresponsible day to nourish your soul before you focus in on year end goals. Need permission? One of the great reasons to be an entrepreneur is to choose how we spend our days. Why not choose to be totally irresponsible and spend an entire work day in sacred idleness? How would you spend the day if you had zero appointments, no calls to return, and no e-mails to answer? Would you run and play, or sit still and vegetate? Would you collect others or not see a single soul? Would you lie on your back in the middle of a pasture, tuck your hands behind your head and look at all the cloud formations floating by and decide what furry mammals they look like. Would you show up at your favorite spot on the lake, or tuck away in a nook or cranny with that new, irresistible book you have been dying to read, or would you hit 472 golf balls? What if you had a whole day to be idle with no plans and no responsibilities at all? How would it feel to wake up and do exactly what you wanted to do every minute of an entire day? Did you know coaches can issue Permission slips! One Sacred Idleness Day is granted. The only stipulation is that you do not accomplish a single thing! You will just BE all day long with no expectations and no results. Where is your scheduler isnt it time to book your sacred idleness day? Life
