"This is the moment in time when people are fiercely independent and intensely collaborative." Fast Company There is great energy and joy in the collaborative process. It is only a myth that we create best alone! A vivid reminder of this popped out at me as I talked with a new acquaintance at the ICF convention. David told me that his wife had a passion for quilting when they married. Her passion was something he didn't understand nor appreciate at first, but as he watched her focus on the intricate needlework, an internal longing stirred within him. David had been a creative artist who loved to draw and design as a child, but his family thought his love of art was impractical so he had hidden his talent away. Now as that artist started re-emerging, David began to sketch new patterns that his wife might quilt. As David designed and drew the imaginative patterns, his wife was thrilled and amazed at their beauty and originality and quickly adopted them. In their new collaborative environment, she started experimenting with a new quilting style based on the personality style assessments David used with his clients. For example, when she made a quilt for David, she quilted loosely and freely. For his analyzer business partner she quilted in a tighter more structured way. Today they share the delight of creative fulfillment in their magnificent custom designed quilts.
