Life Upgrade Issue
54 Deb Lewin, a world-class athlete who competed on the National field hockey team for Israel, held fast to being Miss Independent! That all changed when she was critically injured in an automobile accident two years ago. In her continued rehab from spinal and brain injuries, Deb discovered the most difficult thing she had to learn was to ask for and receive help from others. By making the huge shift from Miss Independent to Miss Interdependent, Deb now relies on a team to support and help her continue her life quests. As one of the team members, her brother says proudly, "I am her go-to person." Despite her considerable disabilities, her competitive juices still flame her spirit. Since her injury, Deb has "parasailed, fly-fished, ridden in a helicopter and alighted on a Canadian glacier." Her new passion is dressage and she and her beautiful horse Zena glide through the courses together. On
May 1st she and Zena will be competing in Atlanta for the tryouts
for the U.S team that will go to Athens in September for the X11 Paralympic
Games. It is only with the help and support of others that she is
still able to perform and compete at the highest level. Life
Upgrade Tip
Coaching Questions: 1. Do you consider yourself a 'giver'? Absolutely 2. Do you receive as generously as you give? "Hmmmmm" 3. Who are your "go-to" people? 4. What did you ask for this last week? 5. Are you willing to ask for three things from others this week? 6. Is that a commitment? I love the description of having two hands -one for giving and one for receiving. If we don't give and receive equally we block the flow of positive energy that sustains a successful and fulfilled life. If you want to achieve the extraordinary and help others do the same, you will reach out and ask for and give help, support, encouragement, contribution, energy, creative input, strengths, and collaboration. Give and receive generously! ~o^o~
